North Norwegian Artists 'Center, Vadsø Art Association, Vadsø Museum - Ruija Kven Museum and Kven Artists' Association presented the first Kven biennial: Kväänibiennaali 2021.
Kväänibiennaali 2021 is part of «Kven/Norwegian-Finnish traditional knowledge in the face of a new era», a project initiated by Troms and Finnmark County Municipality and carried out in collaboration with the North Norwegian Artists' Center. The project has also recieved support from the Ministry of Local Government and Modernization.

In the last ten years, Kven and Norwegian-Finnish communities have been flourishing. New organizations and institutions are emerging and more and more people want to show and express their Kven/Norwegian-Finnish affiliation.
See footage from the Kven seminar 2021 on Troms and Finnmark county municipalities website (Only in Norwegian). The focus was on the positive things that are happening right now - especially among young people. What has been the basis for this flourish? How do young Kvens/Norwegian Finns find their identity and belonging in a landscape inbetween past and future? How can the Kven language and Kven/Norwegian-Finnish culture be a resource for the region?
During the seminar, the Kven Artist Association - Kväänikonstnäärit and Kväänibiennaali 2021 were also presented and discussed.
