NNKS AiR Nor-Ice October-November 2017

NNKS welcomes Andrea Ágústa Aðalsteinsdóttir as our first guest artist part of the AiR Nor-Ice project. This project is initiated by Nordnorske Bildende Kunstnere and SIM – (The Icelandic Visual Artists Association). The hree-year project also gives an opportunity for Norwegian artists to stay at SIM in Iceland. Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter is a partner and the host of the visiting Icelandic artists.

Andrea Ágústa Aðalsteinsdóttir (b.1991) graduated with BA in Fine Arts from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2015. She has taken part in and curated exhibitions, worked close-ly with Ekkisens Art Space in Reykjavík and is one of the editors for the Icelandic Art Journal – Listvísi. Her work appears in various mediums; photography, text, video, draw-ings, sculpture, performance and mixed media. Exploring the entity of belief. Drawn to the mysterious aspects of materials and ideas; she contemplates the ritual and tries to awaken the magic of poesy in a mundane world.

Combining ideas that dance on the line of science and the mystique. Andrea will work towards a project which is a part of the liquid collective Computer Spirit which is based in Reykjavik, Iceland. The work will be a further research from their former exhibition – Stream in a Puddle that was exhibited in Tallinn, Estonia in 2016. The ideas that will be dealt with regard a possible future existence of an artificial sun, transforming formless en-ergies and states of being and/or becoming into matter. To put in to form the world of un-defined structures. Allowing an abstract experience of perception to be a leading point to the final outcome of a work. The medium is used to connect with a possible vessel that can be accessed through feelings that are channeled when technology is morphed with our own senses.
