Project funding
North Norwegian Art Centre distributes project funding every year through two schemes: Artist-initiated project funding and Regional project funding for visual arts KiN.
Artist-initiated project funding
Every year, Northern Norwegian Art Centre distributes funds to independent art projects that take place in Northern Norway. In this way, the centre aims at spreading art in the northern part of the country.
With the funds, North Norwegian Art Centre wants to encourage non-traditional methods, platforms, formats, working methods and ways of working with the public. At the same time, the centre aims at offering artists the opportunity to immerse themselves in long-term processes.
Ever since the 1990s, Northern Norwegian Art Centre has had its own scheme for the distribution of funds for art projects in the region. Artist-initiated project funding, as the scheme is called, can be seen as part of the artist centre's focus on its own region. It is also a contribution to the fact that art can benefit more people, considering both artists and the public, and the scattered nooks and crannies in which they find themselves.
Regional project funding for visual arts KiN
North Norwegian Art Centre is the secretariat for the regional nomination committee for Northern Norway. Each year, applications from artists who will be exhibiting in the region are prioritised. The applications are then considered by the national award committee, which is administered by the Art Centres of Norway (KiN).
