LIAF 2010
Invasion of Kuba
The organisation of LIAF was transferred to the North Norwegian Art Centre in 2009. Because of this it was decided that the next full festival should be moved to 2011, with a smaller version occurring in the summer of 2010. Helga-Marie Nordby and Erlend Mogård- Larsen were appointed curators of the interim festival. It began on a June weekend in an area called Kuba on Svinøya in Svolvær under the title Invasion of Kuba. Fish-drying racks were converted into concert venues; many known and unknown names were among the participants. Sami Rintala was the architect for a large bathhouse where lectures and performances were held under the name Sauna Sessions. Visual art was not in focus to the same degree, but one of LIAF’s most memorable and often-photographed works came into being that year: Tori Wrånes’s performance, Loose Cannon.
